Organization

The National Office of Examinations and Competitions is an institution attached to the Ministry of National Education by Decree No. 03-054/PR.

ONEC is headed by a Director General appointed by presidential decree on the proposal of the Minister of National Education. This authority is assisted by a Deputy Director, a Head of Forecasting and Organization, a Head of Diplomas and Equivalences, a Head of Documentation and Archives and an Executive Secretary.

Tasks

The office is responsible for organizing all national examinations and competitions for pupils, students and trainees in schools and training establishments placed under the control of the Ministry of National Education.

It is also responsible for organizing competitions for recruitment, promotion or selection for training, as well as professional examinations for staff members, teaching staff in public establishments and private schools under the control of the MEN.

It may also be called upon to organize examinations and competitions on behalf of another ministry.

  • National Center for Documentation and Scientific Research [CNDRS]

The National Center for Documentation and Scientific Research (CNDRS) is a public institution with a cultural and scientific vocation specializing in the conservation and enhancement of natural (fauna and flora) and cultural (material and immaterial) heritage and the promotion of research.

It has the status of a national institution serving societies and its development in the Comoros and is recognized by the United Nations Program (UNDP) and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) as a multidisciplinary structure.

True bridge between the past and the future, the CNDRS is the soul of the heritage of the Comoros, the witness of the action of Man in the journey of life.

For more than four decades now, the National Center for Documentation and Scientific Research (CNDRS) has been a useful instrument playing the educational, scientific and touristic role that unifies and unifies awareness-raising for private and public establishments, associations, national and international professional and scientific communities. It offers visitors such as locals, the diaspora and foreigners a variety of activities including permanent and temporary exhibitions, conferences, seminars, symposiums, workshops, practical courses and publications. Having started with a mission essentially focused on the conservation and safeguarding of manual and sound archives on the oral and written tradition, the CNDRS then diversified its activities by currently dealing with the national archives, the national museum, the library National Institute, the National Icon Library, the Volcanological Observatory of Karthala (OVK), the Environment, Arab-Islamic Civilization, Language and Social Sciences Laboratories, as well as the Conservatory of Natural and Cultural Heritage.

Since its creation in 1979, the CNDRS, based in the center of the city of Moroni, capital of the Comoros, has carried out more than thirty surveys and 400 activities, mounted more than 100 exhibitions, organized several workshops, seminars and national, regional conferences and international, published more than 50 articles, chronicles and conference proceedings.

If at its creation, the Center exclusively welcomed foreign officials, notables, tourists and researchers working in the professional environment, it has now become an educational, cultural, artistic, tourist and scientific space for schools, associations, artists, tourists and researchers, in short a place at the service of the general public It is soon preparing to implement an initial professional training program in heritage education.
